Probably you mean this thread: trackback test!! ?
Normal subscribed users should get notifications when pingback is approved only, perhaps there is a bug here. I will check the issue![]()

No need to check anything- I was testing some functionality and approved like 9 spam trackbacks at once.....
Have you received ping/trackback notifications for that thread since yesterday?

How can i disable trackback/pingback moderation for all of the forums?
Edit each forum and turn off the moderation options.

Hello,
you can try this SQL query:
you may need to rebuild the forums information in vB admincp after that.UPDATE `forum` SET
`vbseo_moderatepingbacks` = '0',
`vbseo_moderatetrackbacks` = '0'

Shesh, I must be an idiot but I can't any purpose for this feature what so ever. Someone please make it clear to me. I put a track back in my blog (wordpress blog) and nothing different is showing up.
Thanks!
This is just a test

Cool, I like it
Had me confused for a while. Does blogger not do trackbacks?
Why is it that way?
I've been having MUCH better success in doing trackbacks vs pingbacks. So I've been making replies in existing threads & using the edit thread option to access the trackback field. Kinda cumbersome. I'd much rather there be an option for trackback from posts.
It also means only a thread starter or someone with Mod access can do trackbacks. That seems rather limited.

That's a good point. Thing is, trackbacks are always associated to threads and never to posts. You cannot send an anchor ('#postid') with a trackback ping.
So, trackbacking an external resource from, say, post #35 in thread ABC will suggest to the landing site that *thread ABC* is relevant, when in fact it may be a single post "somewhere" within the thread.

I understand the point there but that may be more of a blog-centric way of looking at trackback. And you guys are the ones that are expanding our way of thinking about this stuff
With a blog, the most important info on the page is almost always the initial post by the blogger. The comments are almost never the focus or best part.
With a forum, it's quite often the opposite. It's very common for a thread to have a very simple/sparse 1st post and then have some great info in the replies.
As an example, I regularly see threads on my forum where somebody asks a brief question. With an eye on trackback/pingback, I'll usually surf for blogs with good info and reference the blog in my reply. Then I have to head to the edit thread option to do the trackback.
I get your point about if the trackback is ONLY related to some post buried in a long thread but, for me, that's not the way I'm using it. The original thread starting post might not be worthy of doing a trackback to anybody's blog but the entire thread might be worthy based on the reply (or replies).
