    Parked vs Redirected Domains

Am I correct in assuming that parked domains are a bad idea for seo? I did a search on this forum and received some confusing replies. Should I redirect my extra domains instead of parking them?

If they are misspellings of a site you have up or if you have backlinks pointing to them, then redirect them.

I would prefer to use parked domains for a few reasons, but if this is not advisable I will redirect instead.

I have many domains parked on my site, but I use a .htaccess directive to do a 301 redirect for them, sending them to my "primary" domain.
