    Hello isanda,

    This is to be expected.

As Google finds the new URLs, the old ones will be purged from the index over time.

You have all your forums closed to guests. How do you expect to get the most out of VBSEO when Google can't even rank your threads?

Spiders are not banned from my forums, but the same has to be said. A front page that is not even on Vbseo was a 1st hit on google and within a week of this lost all that!

A week is too short of a time span to expect results. SEO takes time. Keep your settings consitent, and wait it out.

Also, MANY people have found that their sites do not do well when using blackhat SEO techniques such as allowed spiders to view site content when guests can't view the same content.

Why would that be. How can the spiders differentiate??? Not possible I would have thought.

I am just sad to have lost my 1st place ranking

Presenting different content to search engines spiders than you present to normal human viewers is frowned upon by search engines, and can affect your rankings.

My decision, but how does it affect the operation of vbSEO??

I'm not going to sit here and help you properly SEO your site and spend my time helping you out when you use Black Hat SEO. All it takes is for someone to report you to google and you are completely gone from their index. It is your choice and your risk. How can it effect VBSEO? Well for starters your not going to have quality links to your threads because no one can freaking see them

Google's rankings fluctuate all the time. You are assuming that had you not installed VBSEO your rankings would have stayed the same. There is no evidence to support this. Rankings go up and down constantly.

It's typical to expect duplicate or garbage content to be purged from the index, not to lose positioning for your existing terms, although fluctuations in positioning should occur within the coming months (increased positioning).

Since you are using a blackhat cloaking technique, you may have been penalized. Once you installed vBSEO and your site started to get re-indexed it may have been detected.

Search engine bots are more intelligent than you might think.

My recommendation for you is to open up your forums to everyone, and then submit a re-inclusion request to Google, explaining what you did and that you fixed it after discovering that it was not a permitted technique.

I just love these threads... A few every month, really is great entertainment. It makes me feel smarter for a few minutes every day.

How people just willy-nilly make huge decisions about their site without doing any reasearch is beyond my comprehension.

Thanks isanda, your incredulity will keep me going for another week or so until the next thread like this shows up Since you are using black hat seo, did you ever think that maybe google just dropped you for your bad practices?

Could just be bad timing that it happened after you installed vbseo.

Thanks for your quality reply...very good of you. I will take your advice.

As for the comments of others...it is a shame you do not realise some of us are starting out in this world of forums trying to create fun places for people to visit. Yes we all have different levels of knowledge and this forum is a good place for us newcomers to learn. The level of arrogance of some people though is sad to see. But thanks for taking the time out of your precious life to waste some of it on me.

I have done that and opened up all the forums.

Checked google today and 762 pages listed on there...so I am on my way to being reindexed. Thanks to all of you who made practical suggestions

there are several ways your still missing out with vB and vbseo.

one is the archive links in the footer with vbseo, and 2nd is the "powered by vbulletin" in your title tag.

    I'd fix both these asap..
