Question Not sure I'm getting the results I expected yet.

    A couple of questions...

I installed vbSEO 3.0 and the latest Sitemap Generator on The Whistle Post about 3 weeks or so ago. I currently have 4864 posts in 785 threads.

Doing a site:thewhistlepost.com +vbseo on Google results in 10 posts.

Doing a site:thewhistlepost.com on Google results in 38,800 posts.

If I am understanding this correctly, 38,790 posts are indexed pre-vbSEO.

    Now onto the questions:

    1) How long does it take Google to index my pages?
    2) Have I somehow mis-configured VBSEO
    3) Does the sitemap need to be un-gzipped for Google, or does google do this automatically?
    4) Same question for the sitemap for Yahoo

    Any help would be appreciated!!

    Thanks!!

    Kevin

    Hello Kevin ,

As we all know SEO is an ongoing business and it needs time. Therefore i'll like to suggest you to keep vBSEO on and at least give minumum 3 months before expecting a change. I'll also like to suggest couple improvements on your site.

Validation is important for google and the other bots. I check your forumhome and it doesn't validate . I strongly advise you to work on the validation problems especially on forumhome , forumdisplay and showthread pages.

I also noticed that you're not using Relevant Replacements. I strongly advise you to enable Relevant Replacements. Within RRs for vBSEO.com you can check vBSEO Relevant Replacements.

vBSEO Google/Yahoo sitemaps creates the sitemaps. You don't need to unzip them. Google doest that automatically.

Thanks for the reply and the tips. I'll look into it.

I'm definitely not getting rid of VBseo and know it will take some time to see the benefits. I'm just trying to make sure i'm doing the right things from the start.

    Thanks again,

    Kevin

also, note that the site: command is known to not be accurate.

you should really track your referrals with an analytics program and map out your daily google referrals, etc.
