when I look at the report details generated by this plug-in, I do not see any "Search Engine Pings" at the bottom.
is this cause for concern?

Do you have "Ping search engines" option enabled in vB admincp?

if you're talking about..."Auto-Notify Search Engines" - the answer is Yes
