My site seems to have fallen out of index

Hi, today I noticed that my site is obviously not indexed properly on Google anymore. For two years when you e.g. googled "the cure forum" I was number one. Now there are only fragments left and my site seems to be gone.

I checked Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools and there is nothing noticeable. No decrease in traffic, no messages, and the sitemap (vSBEO) has been submitted successfully only today. I have however 918 out 26.733 URL's that are 404's, but I think that has always been round about like this.

I have no idea what we could have been penalized for (if that's the reason).

Last weekend I updated to vB 4.1.10. During that process I had some server issues and also had to disable the plugins incl. vBSEO. But that was for minutes only. I also merged two subforums and renamed one. But all this cannot lead into such a terrible drop in ranking, right?

I am helpless and frustrated. It took me so long and it was such a hard road to get there. We were ranked at least OK with several keywords (e.g. the cure community). It's all gone. Especially losing number one for "the cure forum" hurts.

Do you have any idea what went wrong and what I should do now? I want my good rankings back asap. And I want to understand what happened.

The only thing I did now so far was to re-submit my site as recently updated on Webmaster Tools.

Any help, any advice, any analysis is really more than welcome!

Your site is still on Google Index. What you may be facing is loosing your rankings instead of fallen out of index as i see over 40k urls listed on google for your domain.

If you didn't loose traffic , i would just wait couple days to see if this a hiccup or not.

Thanks a lot Mert, that's at least a little bit of a relief. I will wait but probably not sleep (that site is my "baby" if you know what I mean).

as i see over 40k urls listed on google for your domain.
So does it mean that's too many? Should I do something about it? If yes, what should I do?

    Thanks a again!

As long as analytics is up, i wouldn't worry about it. It's possible that just your local datacenter that your google queries hit are having an issue.

Monitor it for a few days and see what happens.
