Moving to new domain, questions

Ok this is what I plan to do and had some questions. I currently own a small niche community forum that is doing very well but it is a small niche community that I want to expand into a larger community and make the original community a community within a community. So my plan of attack would be to take this current vb database and move it to the new domain name and create the larger community with the smaller community database then what I would do is point the smaller community to the sub forums of the old community. I would have it keep its old forum theme with logo if you are inside those certain forums. I don't know if im explaining this very well. Anyways my concern is since I have a huge amount of google traffic I dont want to lose it when making the switch to the new domain as it would now be installed on the new domain instead of the old. (Old domain will be pointing to the sub community.) What kind of impact will I see on my site? Will it be a small hickup? Once google finds out that I basically moved to a new domain will it start indexing the new domain?

vbseo only works on one domain.

if you have smallsite.com pointing to newsite.com/subforums/ its going to getredirected to the later and lose the whole smallsite.com TLD

you'd have to change your registered domain with vbseo to use it on the new site. you can also specifiy, in vb, what forums use what themes.

i would expect to see some impact, yes. you'll want to do 301 redirects from the old domain to the new location at the time of the move, and, with time, the se's will get your new content indexed. i assume you'll retain control of the small domain, so you'll be able to do this.
