Moving forums around, how to keep it all SEO?

    Hi everyone,

I run a forum (http://www.mobilyz.com/forum/) and we have been using vBSEO for a while now. Everything works nicely and we get a nice ranking in google with the traffic that comes with it. Our urls look like:

Soon we want to start restructure our forums and by that I mean:

    • Renaming forums
    • Giving forums other parentforums
    • Moving threads
    • etc..
The question I have is how can I make sure that visitors that are still using our "old" url's are still being able to get to the "new" location/url? Is there an easy way to do this or do i have to create something myself?

    Example:
    OLD url:/forum/f25/algemeen/f166/accessoires-universeel/f244/geheugenkaarten-flashdrives/105444-crash-sd-card-8-gb.html
    NEW url: /forum/f166/accessoires/f22/geheugenkaarten/105444-crash-sd-card-8-gb.html

Hoping someone can help me out with this problem. Thanks!

    Hello,

thread URLs (as in your example) should be redirected automatically if you change subforum titles/structure.

Ok, so VBSEO remembers the old structure and redirects to the new thread based on the found threadid or forumid?

It redirects thread URLs based on thread ID found in the link.
