moving forum to root question

I already have a large forum approaching 1 million posts.....
I know how to do the htaccess 301 stuff


What would it benefit to go from \forum to the root? Or should I leave well enough alone?

Moving anything on an established forum is never a good idea. But, if you're going to do it, it's best to do it yesterday.
