    Misc SEO help with VBSEO.

I'm not new to seo but I'm new to vbulletin and VBSEO and could really use some help.

There are a couple of things I'd like to change...

On my archive page, all of the archived pages links are like this:
    http://www.lawncareforum.com/Sitemap/f-7.html

I want them to be like this:
    http://www.lawncareforum.com/Mower-Equipment
(with the same link as the anchor text)

On my site the spaces of the link (in this case Mower Equipment) would need the spaces replaced with a -

I don't know how many people do this but I always use a tool that shows me what Google sees. It looks horrible with my site. There is so much stuff I don't want to show up...

    Hello,

The archive is not customizable like this. Even if it was, it could not be set up that way as it would conflict with your main forum display pages.

I'm not sure I understand. I only care if that one page shows the links like that.

It's not possible. Your archive options as listed in the CP:

    Archive Options:

301 Redirect vB's Archive Thread Pages
'301 redirects' are "Google's Safe" way of moving content. Select this option to save your 'Page Ranking' while redirecting spiders (and users) to the new, static pages.
    Rewrite vB's Archive Thread Pages
This option rewrites URLs so that original content is linked from within the archives, providing an excellent vBulletin sitemap.
Rewrite + 301 Redirect Archive Pages
This is a combination of options 1 and 2 (above). This option rewrites URLs so that original content is linked from within the archives AND also adds 301 redirects to the archive thread pages. Therefore, (a) it works as a sitemap for the static site and (b) it ensures that incoming links pointing to the old archive thread pages are redirected to the new, static pages also.
    Keep vB's Archive default settings
    Keep vBulletin's default archive settings.

I chose this method : Rewrite + 301 Redirect Archive Pages.

I'm still learning a lot about vbulletin. It's just amazing to me how really, really bad it is for seo. There is some of these things, if fixed, would make a HUGE seo difference.

rewrite + 301 is generally the desired method. With it, there is no further customizations. It is bare-bones and designed to offer a direct link to deep pages.

ie, a thread with 10 pages, shows
    1,2,3,4.....10

On the thread itself, there is no direct link to pages 5-9 on the main showthread page.

With the archive enabled, there ARE links to ALL pages.

But, these are also covered in the XML sitemap as well, so it's a bit of a wash.

    Hey Patrick,

Maybe you would want to disable your archive:

And replace it with the powerful tool vBSEO Sitemap Generator.
