What are good settings? And what are good limits to have set up in the admincp - options

    Replace the 'META KEYWORDS' Content?
Replaces the 'META KEYWORDS' dynamically with content relevant to the page being displayed. Affects forums, threads, posts & member profiles.

    Replace the 'META DESCRIPTION' Content?
This option replaces the 'META DESCRIPTION' content with the first words of the first posting in the page to a limit defined in the option below.

    Define the 'META DESCRIPTION' Length?
The meta description tag usually consists of 150 to 200 words or less.

    Thanks

I usually rewrite my Meta Keywords content, but not the Meta Description content, preferring to use a relevant replacement manually within the vBulletin templates "headinclude" template to include keywords which i would like to rank more highly for.

    vBulletin templates headinclude system

Is that a hack? If so do you have a link?

Or do you edit the template for each thread o_O

Sorry, i meant the "headinclude" template. vBulletin is essentially based of a template system, where every single thread, forum listing page, and vBulletin powered page is created from individual templates combining together.

It would be unneccessarily complicated to edit the generic templates which compile together a thread page to make them look different for each different thread. However, i recommend that you checkout T2Mans glorious vBulletin 3.5 Search Engine Optimization, which talks about how to properly rewrite your Meta Tags and Descriptions. Hopefully this should give you a better idea of how to use the "headinclude" template, and the template system in general too
