    Linkback question...

When I tweet something from the forum, should I accept the linkback it provides?

Should I accept a linkback that points right back to the same thread?

I wouldn't, but it's entirely up to you.

Thanks. What about sites that simply pull from my RSS?

I would only approve top sites in a niche. Ie, if you have a post about an ipod, and wired or tech crunch links to you, i would approve it. everything, i'd leave moderated.

Thanks again. One more question. Anyway I can see all the links I have approved on my site to go back and moderate them?

Nevermind, it's in vB control panel.

Although, should I moderate any outgoing linkbacks?

Also, should I allow linkbacks for let's say, when someone from facebook puts a link to our forum on a how-to post? Or should I only allow linkbacks for articles?

So I decided after reading around that I want to delete all of my linkbacks, problem is I have like 70 pages of them and I need a way to delete them all at once or it's going to take me hours to do so. Any tips on a quick way to delete them?

Why would you want to delete all of your link backs?

Because according to what I've read, only top notch sites in the niche of what my content is about should be linked to. I have a ton of just run of the mill sites that I've linkback to, and they have probably been just getting traffic from me with no benefit to me.

I have another question. Can't linkbacks hurt your site traffic? What I mean is let's say there are two forum/blog sites, and one is linking back to the competitors site that is better, won't that take away potential people who will now stay on the bigger/better site?

You don't want a ton of 'free' links out to anywhere on the net. Odds are, people in your niche already know about the big #1 sites anyway. If they linked to you, it's a good idea to return the link to complete the cycle.

There are no provisions for mass changing. you will need to do a raw query in your db.

    Code:
    update `vbseo_linkback`
    set t_approve = 0
this will moderate all items. and add your table prefix if you used one.

backup your db first. there is no undo.

Thanks, what do you think about my question in post #12? Don't you think that linkbacks to a similar site can hurt site traffic?

I had about 1,700 approved linkbacks on my forum. Maybe a few of those were to bigger well known sites, but they were mostly to forums. I deleted them all and I'm going to disable linkbacks and see how my site does for awhile.

Also, what about outgoing linkbacks? I read around and didn't find much about them. Any pointers?
