    Replacement Maximum?

Does anybody know if there is a limit on the number a Acronym Expansions you can have? I was thinking maybe...50...100...1000...5000?

Just wondering if anyone knew, before I started testing it.

    Thanks.

I dont advise you to use a lot of replacements as it will slow down your pages. 50 is a good number and i wouldnt use more then that.

I wanted to chime in since I had been using the acronym expansion for about a year+ now.

    Do-not-do-it.

It may be fine for a small forum with less than 100k posts, but when you deal in realms of 5+ (or in my case, 10+) million posts on your vB board, even a dozen of rewrites for relatively common terms will significantly slow your page loading times.

I do not have any fancy stats / timing / counters / etc. to show for, just the regular "wow my forums respond much faster now" vibe. I have turned off all expansions, the benefit of faster pages and lower server loads does outweigh the min. extra clicks you get from this feature.

I don't get it Whether you have 100 posts or 100 million you only show about 10 posts per page (avg). You don't have a to parse all 100 mil posts on each page load?

All of your traffic only visits one page at any given time?

No, they hit hundreds/thousands of threads, all of which may have multiple instances of expansions.

May be just me then. I have several million posts on my server. On 1 of my sites gets an avarage 200k hits a day, about 2 weeks ago I put in 48 replacements and haven't noticed any rise in server load (page load time is negligible anyway).

having said that, an option to turn off for guests would be handy anyway.

I wonder, does the "VBSEO_AUTOLINK_FORMAT" variable still work in v3.3.0?

Is there any way to do that:

when appear the word "Ebay" I have the link Ebay
when appear the word "ebay" I have the link ebay
when appear the word "eBaY" I have the link eBaY

    etc...

In GAL I have defined 1 link "ebay" and all words ebay, Ebay, eBaY... were transformed to links ebay, Ebay, eBaY ...
