I run a fairly popular motorbike/motorcycle community forum, over the last year I have done a great deal of work to SEO the site and now I am reaping the rewards of this.
However, I have something of a keyword dilemma - Motorbike vs Motorcycle
My personal preference is Motorbike and therefore the majority of the site uses this term (motorcycle is also in meta tags/description). So if I submit an article the title is typically something like this:
When members submit threads/post they typically use motorbike or bike and on rare occasions motorcycle - I think that the reason for this is that the majority of members, like the site, are UK based and the norm in the UK is motorbike. How to do XXXXX with your Motorbike
However, if you perform a Google search for these single terms you get the following results:
- Motorbike: 9,860,000 pages
- Motorcycle: 87,200,000 pages
As you can see motorcycle is by far the more popular term and this leaves me with a dilema - target the small "motorbike" keyword or go for the big boys on "motorcycle"
