ionCube and eaccellerator combo

I know that eaccellerator works with Zend, but does it work with ionCube?

Running php 5.2, the Zend Optimizer is junk. It doesn't work with MediaWiki at all, and I've seen reports that it causes segfaults with vBulletin. I'm thinking about migrating to ionCube, but I'm nervous about the change.

I've also read that Zend Optimizer 3.2.0 (the only version that works with php 5.2) won't work with files encoded by the not yet released version of Zend Guard. More and more I'm really not liking Zend.
