    Individual Forum Meta Data

    Excuse me am new here
    I have a question
When I search Google for site:www.mysite.com I can see that pages are being indexed OK.
    But here's my question

For each forum here's an example of the descriptions "New posts, More than 15 replies or 150 views, Hot thread with new posts. No new posts, More than 15 replies or 150 views, Hot thread with no new posts ..."

How do I set vbSEO to write a better descriptive meta of my individual forums?

vbseo does rewrite the meta tags on the fly, if you have enabled it to do so. There is an option to enable this in the vbseocp.

    SEO Functions
    Dynamic META TAGS

    Replace the 'META KEYWORDS' Content?
Replaces the 'META KEYWORDS' dynamically with content relevant to the page being displayed. Affects forums, threads, posts & member profiles.
    Yes No

    Replace the 'META DESCRIPTION' Content?

This option replaces the 'META DESCRIPTION' content with the first words of the first posting in the page to a limit defined in the option below.

    as you can see here:
    site:vbseo.com - Google Search

the descriptions of the forums are accurate.

It should also be noted that the meta description is not the only thing used. In fact, it's RARELY used in any SERP except for when searching by full domain only. You will find most general queries about your site will show a snippit of the description/post that fits the users' search term(s), not the meta tag.

    Hi Brian,

    Thanks for the reply

Yes I have those options ticked YES

The problem that I described appears in forums where I did not write a description in vb forums manager.

Only the forums where I wrote a description show appropriate description in Google search results.

    So now my question is
Can we manually change the meta description of individual forum URLs using vbSEO and not relying on the built-in description in vb Forums Manager.

That is not a currently supported feature.

It is a good idea though. I will jot this down and see about working this into a future version.
