I'm not sure if this is a bug or not with vBSEO.

When you make a thread and turn it into an announcement does it get shown on every forums and sub forums. If this is the case then it is going to have totally different urls for the same announcement thread, which is going to cause duplication. If your forum has 50 sub forums then that is 50 duplicate pages.

Am I right here or wrong, I am not quite sure how announcements work yet, but would imagin that it would go on every forum page as it's important.

I want to do an announcement on my forums, but don't want to do it untill I know that it will not process 50 duplicate threads with the same info.

    Hello,

you can create either global announement (for all forums) or for a specific subforum only.

So if I used a global announcement then what would the urls look like.

Will it mean that I have a different url for every same announcement on each sub forums?

If so then it will cause duplicate content.

I notice this with wickedfire forums that they have an announcement which is exactly the same on every sub forums with different urls.

I don't want to creat an announcement if it is going to cause duplication.

Yes, that will create a duplicate content since forum id (or title) is included in the URL.

    Jonathan,

If you want to do an announcement for all forums, I strongly recommend that you use the Welcome Headers system the way we do here.

That way you can have the announcement appearing on all pages, without any duplication.
