    .htaccess confusion!

    Hello All,

I recently got the vbseo script and have a couple questions.

The installation instructions mention I need to install the .htaccess in the forum root directory, the thing is I have vBadvanced installed in my root directory.

I had some problems with custom rewrite URLs for vBadvanced custom made pages. While searching for an answer I ran into this thread where someone mentions that the .htaccess should be placed at the root directory (not the forum root directory). The thing is I already have a .htaccess file in my root directory with a custom re-direction I made in my hosting control panel.

My question is, should I replace the .htaccess file I created from my hosting control panel with the one provided with the vbseo script? if so, should I copy/paste the custom re-direction I made in my hosting control panel into the .htaccess file provided by vbseo? will this cause any other problem?

I appreciate your help on this.

    Regards,

    Hello,

the .htaccess file for the domain root is not the same as for the forums root, an example is provided in this post: Rewriting custom vbadvanced CMPS pages
In most cases it can be simply appended to the existing .htaccess file in domain root.

    Hello Oleg,

This is what I got in my root htaccess file:

    HTML Code:
    RewriteBase /

    RedirectMatch permanent ^/*****/index.php$ http://www.*****.com
(I added the "RewriteBase /" rule for custom vBa pages, but im still getting an error when trying to access those pages through the new rewrite rule)

    Thank you for your help!

    Regards,

    Hello back Oleg,

After trying a bit more, Im still getting errors when using exactly the same code posted on the post you linked...

This is the error I get when I try to access my homepage:
    HTML Code:
    [b]Internal Server Error[/b]

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@*********.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
I have now reverted it back to what had before.

    I appreciate your help.
