it can't be done
So we there's no way to put a meta tag in the <HEAD> section of each page?
adding the noarchive tag will prevent the link from showing eventually, but the cache still exists. Cached pages - Webmasters/Site owners Help
I'm confused! The Google page you linked to says this;
To remove cached versions of a page from Google's index and prevent Google from caching the page in the future, you must add a noarchive meta tag to that page. The next time we crawl that site, we'll see the tag and remove the page.Surely this means it can be done, simply by adding the noarchive meta tag? (once Google re-crawls the pages)
To prevent all search engines from showing a "Cached" link for your site, place this tag in the <HEAD> section of your page:
<meta name="robots" content="noarchive">To prevent only Google from
displaying one, use the following tag:
<meta name="googlebot" content="noarchive">
it removes the link, but the page can still be accessed by a cache url if known.
I've done it on all showthread pages and not had any problems (touch wood).
Note: Using a noarchive metatag removes only the "Cached" link for the page. Google will continue to index the page and display a snippet.

you'll have to add the meta tag to your headinclude template manually. it's not a part of vbseo, and frankly, i see no point in removing it at all in the first place.
I have A LOT of personal stuff put on my forum. Quite often we have to move these posts into the relevant member only forums by which time it is already indexed.

The issue has come up because someone mentioned their employer in their profile. They have then posted about an issue in the workplace, not mentioning their employer in the posts but other users have checked out this user's profile and seen who they work for.
The user concerned has edited their profile, but the old profile is still being cached by Google. This is potentially a problem for this user.
Those of us who allow posts to be edited on our forums have a very good reason to not want information to be cached by search engines.
I see the benefits of noarchive.
So I'd like to read about your opinions about seo-effects too.
Has Vbseo done anything about this? Can the no cache be done with Vbseo? Anybody from the team can respond to this? If you haven't done anything about this, how exactly can this be done? I don't want the search engines to cache my pages.
You need to add the meta tag as outlined above.
