Correct, showpost no longer exists in vb4 the way it did in vb3.

Hello there, I'm running a vbulletin 3.8 and would like to implement this once I purchase vBSEO but since in our forum we quite often use showpost links to only specify a single post, I'm not so keen on removing showpost links. So, I'd like to know if I put together the showpost as well as permalinks, will it do the job? Thanks!

Yes, I've not yet purchased vBSEO but soon will, after release of 3.5 Gold and as already mentioned in my above statement:

We recommend that you remove/replace it. However you can have both the showpost and permalink link.

Sorry, I still don't get that right afte reading through various threads over here ;-).

I use vB 4, and I followed the steps from this thread vBSEO Sitemap Generator : Quality vs Quantity (I already use the Sitemap Generator 3). Showpost IS switched off now. But do I have to use the permalinks from the vbSEO CP to get maximum effect? Will is still be able to link to single posts?

And what exactly is the advantage of switching off the archives? What is the disadvantage?

This is for vb3. vb4 doesn't really have showpost urls.

on my forum i have rel nofollow for showpost? what is smart thing to do.

i have version 3.6.8 and i want to upgrade to 4.1.

is anything gonna happend, because i have read that is no more showpost in vb 4.1. version

Showpost does not exist in vb4, correct. any showpost urls will simply 404.

but if its ref nofollow, then i dont have any of link (showpost) indexed by google?

nofollow doesn't mean 'don't index'.

? really, so what is the purpose of no follow then?
