How do people do it?

After looking at loads of sites I have noticed that loads of them have a min of about 20 guests on at one time and I wondered how most people do it, My site opened about 2 weeks ago and I really need to try and advertise it better.

I have vbSEO and sitemap 2.0 installed and I have my site in google and Yahoo but what else is there to do?

I understand that without a little bit of hard work you wont get the results.
Where else can I advertise my website? What other search engines are the best to add too?

That's a good start but now you gotta work real hard and your site's PR and all of that.

Give it some time.

2 weeks is not enough time to base a forum's start.

A couple of things, Make sure you are posting everyday, 5 10 15 posts/threads per day. Users like to see a forum that has current post. You have to give them something to read.

Visit your competition see what they are doing and do it better. Maybe even join, and contribute to the discussion and add your site in your signature, make sure you follow the signature guidelines.

You need to start promoting, adding your site to some directories, buy some links, maybe try Adwords or MSN Adcenter,

Remember, just because you build it, people will not come.

Well my vbSEO has been running for about 2 weeks before I opened but since there was no content it didn't search much, I am hoping this will now start putting me on the map a little more.

I am always after advice and I might even get someone who is trained to try and sort out my vbSEO better to get the results needed.

My main objective is to sort out advertising, where to advertise? How to Advertise? and most importantly getting it all worded correctly.

I will be posting in my forum in the hoping I can get some interaction going with the members I have at the minute but that is very small.

One suggestion I would make: Use some relevant keywords in your SIgnature links.

ie: Come visit my [url=http://forum.full90mins.com/]Football Forum[/url]!
