Here is my problem need help

I have a site that is very high in search engines but the website has gone down hill no new post no new threads for the last 6 months but for keywords and google we are ranked very high.

My question is if I launch a new site with the same concept just diiferent name( ie.... new new name .com ) could I setup a forward to the new site that I would not lose the search engine placement in vbseo?
example site 1 which is high in the search engine have a redirect to the new site that is starting from scratch.

Any thoughts?

If you have good rankings i personally donot advise you to change domain names. Instead of changing domain names try to get some old members back to the site and try to setup couple contests so the activity on the board can increase.

Age/history of a domain is a significant factor in SEO. I would recommend trying to figure out why your forum activity has fallen off, and see if you can revive it with general marketing strategies.
