    Exclamation Hello everyone!

Hello everyone, I am very interested in purchasing vbSEO and would like some questions answered.

A friend of mine recently purchased this script, but ended up uninstalling it because of this issue:

He had his main domain, lets say blah.com and this site was in his root, and was his main forum of which he installed vbSEO too. But then he also had various other domains "addon domains" on his account, and after he installed vbSEO he found that it worked perfectly but when he tried viewing his other sites for example, addondomain.com/index.php it now resulted in a 500 internal server error, he found out that if he deleted his .htaccess set by vbSEO that his other sites now worked, but his forums did not.

This same issue will also be facing me if i purchase the script. As we have almost an identical setup. I would love to know if this issue has yet to be fixed, and if so, the possible solutions to this problem.

THANKS IN ADVANCED AND GLAD TO MEET YOU ALL.

    Alex

    Hi Alex,

As .htaccess files 'cascade' down into any and all folders within the folder where the .htaccess is placed (in the case of /root, all folders within /root), all that is required to prevent the vbseo rewrites in those subfolders is either a slight change to the vBSEO-supplied .htaccess, or a separate .htaccess within the folders you don't want to have vBSEO affect.

So even a blank .htaccess would solve the problems within the sub-directories? And what sort of "Slight Changes" in the vbSEO-supplied .htaccess could you do? Any examples?

    Thanks in advanced.

    Alex,

.htaccess has a syntax to say 'if folder is NOT equal to *whatever*, then process the rules.'

That is what I mean by 'a slight change'.
