Heading Tags in vBcms articles (h1, h2, h3, etc)

    Hey guys,

I've been running vb4's cms for over a year now and I still don't get the rankings I did with good ol' Wordpress. If I could go back I would skip that month of hell it required (mostly due to the 1999-like nature of the vBulletin CMS) and just sleep. Ditching Wordpress has been one of the greatest regrets of my entire life.

Now I'm grasping at straws as to how to improve the CMS rankings. My forum does quite well in rankings and I figure I have that thing pretty close to where I want it.

Does anyone know if it's a good idea to swap out the font tags with h1 tags? It seems like it would at least for articles....but maybe user blogs, too.

I'm often using the "Size 4" thing when writing articles when I normally would reach for <h4>. It's my understanding that Google puts more weight on the heading designation.

Is there a quick and easy way to switch this:
    HTML Code:
    <font size="4">Superior Drummer 2.0</font>
    to
    HTML Code:
    <h4>Superior Drummer 2.0</h4>

This would require core code changes to the vb editor/bbcode parser.
Further, a larger font may not always be a heading (ie, a huge annoying post in a large font... the whole thing isn't a header) so there are possible draw backs to it as well.

I bet this would be more practical if I could create some new buttons for admins only that only I and my other authors use. I could see it having problems if standard Registered Users got a hold of it.

Either way, thanks for the reply. I'm desperate to get my vb CMS to rank as well as Wordpress did. 1 year in and I'm still not thrilled with the rankings.

Hey Brandon - I'm curious if you have done anything since you posted this with your CMS pages?
