Handling of swedish letters å ä and ö in links

I am using swedish language in my forum: AMD Forum - Hem. The links in the CMS section (home) of the forum automatically changes å and ä to a, and ö to o. However, in the forum section the links still display å ä ö. I dont think this is good for Google and other search engine bots. How do I solve this?

in your vbseocp you can specify charactor replacements in the format of

Code:

'å' => 'a'
'ä' => 'a'
'ö' => 'o'

This will take effect in the forums also for you then

But I need to edit this in vBSEO then? No settings in vBulletin itself as far as you know?

vBulletin doesn't have option like that, That's only can be done with vBSEO.

But what is best from a SEO perspective? To have links show å ä ö or have the links transformed to show å ä ö as a a o?

The best is the links with your language character, Imagine anyone from your country trying to search on Google so he will type the words with "å ä ö" or "a a o" ? Sure with your language character.
