    Question Google Cache

For some reason when I click on the cached version of a forum page that google has indexed, there is no formatting. I assume this has something to do with having the css as a file. Am I doing something wrong?

    You are correct.

When you make changes to your style, vBulletin creates a new filename, so any cached pages that were pointing to the old filename will have no CSS formatting.

It's poor coding by vBulletin. I just investigated this in the last few weeks and even discussed it on another forum today.

The fact that vB changes the CSS file name everytime and deletes the old is just plain old poor planning. It affects many things that some may not even notice if not for threads like this.

The css file name for a style should never change and the old files should be renamed/rewritten as backups for reference.
Check out vBPicGallery the Photo Gallery for vBulletin.

I don't think i have made any changes to the style recently. And the forum links are ones that seem to have been crawled recently.

I think it's more for browsers caching the old version, if the filename is completely different then browsers won't have the stylesheet cached. I agree that it's stupid though and I wish the filename would stay the same.
