Google Analytics + vbseo

Just bought vbseo today and was modding it for use with google analytics. It said in vbseo that i need to import the code as au-9999 something. Does this mean I have to change the au- code in the google analytics code that was given to me?

Also, you are supposed to use the legacy analytics code right?

Hello Dustin,

you should enter your Analytics website ID (it looks like "UA-XXXXX-X").
If you had previously setup analytics code in your templates, you should remove it since vBSEO will add that automatically.

Okay I did. I was just a bit confused because in the area that it tells you to paste it, to the left of that it says something about au-9999 and I didn't know if those were placeholders or something else.

Thanks.

Looks like you have entered the code incorrectly - you have something like "<script src="... there, while the *only* text that should be entered is: UA-XXXX-X (with XXXXX and X replaced with your own numbers).

I have no idea why it did that. It was pasted correctly earlier. Very strange!

Thanks

It is the legacy analytics code that I am supposed to copy right? They have ga.js and urchin.js.

What exactly do you enter in "Enter your Google Analytics Code" option?

both legacy and the new version have the same UA- code, so there is no difference.

all you need is the account number, UA-XXXXX-X

the rest of the JS is automatically included by vbseo.

You don't enter any code at all. Just the number beginning with UA.
