I have VBSEO installed and have it set up to run with my Google Analytics account. However I can't get it to work on my homepage which uses vBa.
i would apreciate it if anyone could point me in the right direction here.

What's the problem? It should insert your analytics code there also.
If I get Google Analytics to check the forum home URL for the code, it does not find it. However it finds the code in the forum URL just fine.
Thanks,
John
I see that you are running an older version of vBSEO (2.4.0). Try upgrading to 3.0.0 RC3.
I looked at your vBadvanced source, and the analytics code is in there though. Not sure why it wouldn't be picked up. The new version of vBSEO puts the analytics code in the footer, where Google now suggests it should be located.
Thanks. I have an upgrade scheduled for the weekend, so lets hope it sorts the problem out.
As an aside to this, is there a guide to using google analytics to track specific links on a site?
Cheers,
John
Google Analytics - How do I track clicks on outbound links?Originally Posted by JohnnyBGood
As long as you have the option turned on in vBSEO, all your outgoing links will be grouped as an /outgoing/ structure.
Thanks for the fast replies Keith
I've upgraded now to VBSEO 3.0.0 RC3, and I still have the same problem.
If I look at the source for my homepage, I can see the analytics code there, but for some reasons google still says it is not on the page.
Any ideas here?
Thanks,
John
Hello John,
make sure that Analytics ID you entered in vbseocp is correct.

The code is definately correct. It picks it up for the forum just fine, and I have detailed stats on the forum. If the code were incorrect, then it would not be possible to get these, unless I am missing something here.
Thanks,
John
Mm.. why are you validating the code again if you are getting the stats already?

I only get the stats for the /forums/ section of the site. I do not get it for the root folder of the forum, which is the entry point to the site.
Remove, and re-add your site at the root level.
Just tested:
I have mine set up at the root level, and just tried to add a second entry for the forums directory, and it won't validate. If you want to have stats available from the root level, you'll need to remove your forums entry and add the root entry.
Do you mean remove the anaytlics entry on the analytics website, or something on the forum?
Thanks,
