Google Analytics question regarding 2.4.0.

hi,

a quick question, before i install the update. the announcement says

Quote:
(12) UPDATE: Added code to track outbound links that are clicked on a forum, for use with Google Analytics. You must have the Add Google Analytics Code to your Forum Pages? setting in your vBSEO Control Panel set to "Yes".
what about people like me, who already have the Analytics code implemented?
If i set the setting to yes, will i have two Analytics codes in my source?

What i mean is, we use an php-include (a footer) for the whole site and it also has the Analytics code...

thanks in advance,
Gerald

If you're specifically asking about outbound link tracking, see this link for an explanation:

but I'm not quite sure I understand your question.

It says, in order to have outbound link tracking, i have to set "Add Google Analytics Code to your Forum Pages?" to YES, but i already have Analytics on the forums through a php include we use on the whole website...

So, what i was asking is, if that means that i really have to change my included footer

Re: Google Analytics question regarding 2.4.0.

Hello Gerald,

yes, if you have already added the google analytics code, after enabling it in vbseocp you'll have it included twice.

Perhaps you can modify your php included script so that forum pages are excluded for it?

Re: Google Analytics question regarding 2.4.0.

Is the vbseo analytics code different to the regular code google tell you to put in your pages?

I only ask as I also have it included across my entire site, so wonder why I'd need to switch it on in vbseo and exclude it from the SEOd pages?

Thanks!

Re: Google Analytics question regarding 2.4.0.

Hello Paul,

the code that vBSEO inserts is exactly the same as suggested by Google (you can check this here at vbseo.com).

Re: Google Analytics question regarding 2.4.0.

For what it's worth, Google now says to insert the Google Analytics code "immediately before the </body> tag..." instead of in the <head> area.

Yes, just noticed that they suggest this code movement.
Thanks for pointing out, this is changed accordingly in next vBSEO build
