Forums With The Same Title / Slug

I have an instance where some new forums need to be created, in a different category yet with the same name as some other forums that already exist. I have been, since the beginning, not using the forum ID in the forum url - so this conficts.

What would be the recommended method from vBSEO, to convert to using forum ID's in the forum slug and 301'ing the old url's - or to use custom forum slugs? I'd imagine there is a performance increase for using the forum ID (saving a query maybe), so what would you do?

Since you have your URL formats established for quite some time now, it would be best to keep them unchanged and use vBSEO Slugs - Custom Forum Titles to define custom URLs for subforums with the same title.
