    Forum Section - Custom Block Question

    I've got the RR's in place for the H1, but what I want to do in addition is add a custom block at the top of each forum section page, in which I could add my own text and image. Then I could use this space to add a few good seo sentences and image with img tags for my keyword for this section.

    For example, add a custom block under the nav bar here

    Urban Music

    Anyone know how to do this. I need to be able to create a different block for each section, so I can't just use one of the exsisting 'Welcome Header' hacks, and they display on everypage, and I want this block to just appear of this forum section page and not on threads. I also want to be able to create a different block for each forum section page.

    The reason I want this is so I can improve my onpage SEO for each forum section page. Any ideas ?

    For something like this, you should just use the template manager and if conditions based on forumID in either the nav bar or forumdisplay, or even the ad template for that location.

    Brian, first off your a legend it's a pleasure & honor to have your help ! I've read zillons of your posts and consider your experience very highly.

    Thanks for this info, can you please be a little more specific, would this require a custom hack which acts upon the details you listed above, or can this actually be done just with settings, and if so how do I create conditions based on forumID and place it.

    Also do you think it could actually be useful for seo on page or not ?

    Thanks.

    This is not a supported feature of vbseo. You would need to manualy make template edits via the vb template manager, or otherwise add in your own custom plugin.

    I do a similar thing for advertisers that sponsor individual forums.

    vb3 code:

    <if condition="$foruminfo[forumid] == 'XX'">
    show something only to XX forum
    </if>

    sometimes, $forum is all that is needed instead of foruminfo. Depends on the script. If it doesn't work, try the other one

    Depending on what you actually put there would have the bearing on it effecting SEO or not.
