    I voted /root but really depends on the site. Say, you have a portal with different main areas, you might want to separate those into folders:
    - /blogs/blog_related_content_here
    - /articles/article_related_content_here
    - /forums/forum_related_content_here

    That simply gets your site more organized. And *may* have a SEO value, as long as you remain consistent. The same principle occurs on vBSEO hierarchic URL settings:
    -/forum_topic_A/forum_topic_A_content_here
    -/forum_topic_B/forum_topic_B_content_here

    In vBSEO.com's case, since the core of the site is the forum, we've opted for having it all at /root.
