folder write permission?

after i log in to vbseo following message is displayed
"Your config.xml is not writable. Settings cannot be saved."

after logging in to sitemaps reports area

"/home/database/path/vbseo_sitemap/data/ folder is not writable, make sure that it has 0777 permissions"

do i need to change permission?

in vb 3.7.1, i didnt had such messages..after updating to vb 4.x and vbseo , i noticed this message today..

was this affecting search engine traffic or just reports?

The warning in vBSEO Control Panel is related to config.xml permissions that is located inside vbseo/resources/xml folder

What about vbseo sitemap?

Recommended setting for config.XML is cümle 644

VBSEO sitemap generator requires vbseo_sitemap/data folderchmod 777

files:
locked: 644
writable: 666

folders:
locked: 755
writable: 777

The config.xml file should only be writable when a setting change is desired/needed.
The sitemap data folder needs to be writable all the time.


Your server may differ, as this is on native apache/DSO installation. Some php/cgi installs will need 444 and 660. If the above do not show the proper rights.
