    A few slight problems

    Hello,

i have just installed vBSEO to my vB4 and experienced some problems.

    1) As my forum is Lithuanian, there are special characters in the names of the threads. I have set "Characte Replacement" for those characters, but that does not work. It is set by default to replace, for example, 'į' with 'a', which is wrong for me. How do you reset the default settings?

    2) URL redirection does not work for the latest posts in threads (screenshot #1 below). How can I fix that?

    3) When you open a forum or sub-forum and try to click on a username inside it, the redirection does not work also (you get 404) (screenshot #2 below). Is there a way to fix that also?

    Million thanks in advance!!

    Hello ,

If you want custom character replacements , you need to define replacements within vBSEO Cp > General Settings > Character Replacements

    Sample replacements
    PHP Code:
    'į' => 'a'
Also you need to enter correct language encoding for your defined initial characters. You can do that within vBSEO Cp > General Settings > Character Replacements > Advanced Settings : Use custom character set in vBSEO CP ?

For your second and third problem. You need to make sure you uploaded vBSEO .htaccess

    Hello again,

I have tried various settings for the Character Replacements. I tried using windows-1257 charset in the vBSEO CP, but that gives no help. I had the same problem with vB 3.8 before 4.0 was released. It never worked for me.

For the 2nd and 3rd, I have uploaded .htaccess, it works perfectly with all the other URL's, like forum and thread URL's, but it particularly doesn't work with those bits: some of the member profile links and last posts in the thread.

    Thank you,
    Mindaugas

    Hello,

Please make sure that 'a' isn't in your Stop Word list, as it will be removed if it is.

    Hello,

I have actually checked that already, I did both, turned the Stop Words off and removed 'a' from the list, but that did not help. Any other suggestions?

I suppose the only way is to convert the database to UTF-8.. Is there a safe method to do that? I have seen some mods on vB forums, but none of them guarantee 100% safety, so I'm not really fond of doing that. It would be great to find an easier method..

Another issue. After installing vBSEO and setting it to clean up the HTML, it shows an unnecessary line of symbols at the very top of the page. Maybe somebody had a similar problem and has solutions how to fix it? I've tried looking it up through the search, but it didn't give any results. Screenshot below.

    Thank you.
