Expired license but wont let me download?

    Hi
I had a forum which closed around a year ago. I have not used my vbulletin or vbseo license since. I just went to the download section and it says the latest versions I must upgrade to use. Which is another $150 on top of what I have already paid!

But I do not mind using an older version as my vbulletin license only runs to 4.02 anyway so I would have to use a vbseo version to use with that. But why do I not have access to any of the older ones either? It just says EOL! Surely I should be able to access something I have paid for. I live in the UK and under UK law it is simply not legal to do something like this. So can someone please give me access to what I have paid for? Thanks

    Hello Nick,

Upon further discussion, we have enabled the download for old vBSEO versions.

If you choose to install one of those builds, please keep in mind that you won't receive "official" technical support. Those versions have officially reached EOL status and they won't be maintanied nor updated for security patches/new features.

Also please keep in mind that you can't install vBSEO 3.3.x series with vBulletin 4. Compatibility with vB 4 starts with vBSEO 3.5.x series, so I strongly advise you to renew your license to take advantage of new stuff and exciting features .

If there's anything else we may assist with, just let us know!.

    Hi
I had one of my versions working with vbulletin 4 but do not know which one was. I am just about to start with another site but will not decide if to upgrade or not yet. I basically purchased it, became ill for quite some time and my site was never used apart from the initial setting up period. I had several other websites (not forums) but my hosting expired and domains expired so I have gotta start again really. Im pretty annoyed that vb are asking for so much money for renewal, it isnt a way for them to treat loyal customers. I only wish I had the benefit out of my original vbseo purchase and was around to use it. But on the bright side, im not dead!

I just had to reset my password on vbulletin.com because it has been that long since I have been on it that I forgot! Latest version of vbulletin I have access to is 4.02 patch level 4.

So they want another $175 for me to be able to access the latest versions and you guys want another $35. In hindsight considering I used both of them for less than a month or so I have wasted my money. Time to shop around I think and see what else is on offer. I have two vbulletin (owned) licenses and one owned vbseo, I could have swore the upgrade fee used to only be about $30 or something for vbulletin?

EDIT: Checked on vbulletin.com forums and my last login was over a year ago! Trust me to nearly go and die :(

    Hello Nick,

vBulletin policy has changed a lot since your last login. Another company basically took over the control of vBulletin and its prices, support policies and so many things changed as well.

You likely will need to go through the announcements forum at vBulletin.com to inform yourself about latest events.

Just as last thing, our policy has not changed at all. You get a vBSEO lifetime license with *optional* yearly renewals, while vBulletin has changed their policy completely.

If there's anything else you would like to know, please let us know!-

So the renewal fee now is it for indefinite updates? My friend just bought a vb license but it says no expiry. Does this mean that he cannot download updates or is it indefinite?

vBulletin's license terms are now 'Indefinite use' but the support varies whether you have a Forum only (30 days support) or Suite (indefinite support) license.

vBSEO renewals provide access to new versions and Support for 12 months. The license terms for your vBulletin software have no bearing on your vBSEO license terms.
