    Exclude from footer archive

I'm completely new to vbseo (day 1) and need some help configuring some things.

I set the option to include the Footer Archive for guests, however it gives links to forums that are no longer active. I have a couple of forums that were set up for special events and then hidden (Display Order 0). How do I exclude these forums from the archive links? I thought of just pruning or deleting, but that doesn't help for special event forums that I may turn back on in the future.

    Thanks for any suggestions!

Try logging out I don't think you will see them as they are normally user permissioned.

IE if logged in as an admin you can see all the hidden forums, as a guest you cannot.

May be it, but its worth a try only takes a minute.

I don't think that's it. When going to the site as a guest is the only time you see the archive links which is how it's supposed to work. However the first few links (1, 2, 3) all link to forums that are no longer active on the board, yet these links allow you to see the contents through the archive.

To see what I'm referring to, check out:
    BikeTalk Motorcycle Forum
and follow either the 1, 2, or 3 link at the very bottom of the page.

EDIT: I found a work-around but not exactly how I had hoped to handle this. I changed the permissions on those 3 forums so Guests don't have access to them. This excluded them from the links. I'd still like to find another alternative.

Still no luck finding the answer. Anyone know how to fix this? I need to exlude certain forums from the footer archive (numbers).

For example one of my forums is a welcome forum for new members. Almost every post is identical since they start with a canned automated welcome message. I don't want this forum followed through the numbered footer archive links, and would prefer to them not included at all.

Is there somewhere I can add a condition to not show certain forum id's?

    Hello,

as I see, you are running an older version of Sitemap Generator, please grab the latest copy from the downloads area.

Can you tell me what changes were made to v1.7? I've been running v1.6 since late last year on my vb3.6.4 w/vba and it seems to work ok. Are there issues I'm not seeing?

I tried browsing through the original thread over at vbulleting.org (100 pages, whew!) but couldn't find anything regarding the upgrade. I'm always weary of upgrading and then blowing something up.

The only oddity I've noticed is the sitemap index shows the location as being in the /forum <loc>http://bike-talk.com/forum/sitemap_1.xml.gz</loc>
    despite using the url http://bike-talk.com/sitemap_index.xml.gz
located in the root. According to google the sitemap is being downloaded so maybe this isn't a concern.

Back on topic... is there a way to exclude a particular forum from the numbered archive links in the footer?

There were many changes applied, the full changelog will be available when v1.7 is released (currently it is in Release Candidate 4 stage).

Currently it is not possible to exclude specific subforums from the archive footer links, but you can copy and paste the generated footer links html code into your footer template, customize it as desired and disable "Archive footer links" in vbseocp after that.
