Does VBSeo store anything in the DB?

We recently moved servers and are waiting for the DNS to update. Would it be advisable to modify my vbulletin config file to reference the new DB? I would temp. disable attachments, so the file structures should stay the same. I just dont know if VBseo would have any issues with this.

    Hello,

there are no additional requirements related to vBSEO when moving servers, as long as your forums URL is unchanged. If you change the domain, you should request vBSEO license update via support ticket.

Domain is the same, just a new host.

DNS seems to be updating quickly, as the users are making their way to the new domain. I think I will just ride it out, thanks for the quick response.

So far so good, I moved from 1and1 to Pair.

Pair has amazing support so far, and I have also heard great things about them.

1and1 support was quite weak, however they were letting me get away on their 3 dollar plan while getting 10k visits a day.

The best way to move is to point the old server's config file to the ip of the new server, and allow the access host on the new server of the old web server's ip.

that way, while dns propigates, both 'web page' versions hit the same 'new' database.

Brian, thanks for the suggestion. Thats what I was going to originally do, but was unsure on the effects it might have. When I moved servers today I installed the vbseo 3.1 (had 3.0) on the old server. Will this have any weird effects?

you should upload 3.1 FILES on the old box too (just upload the files... don't import the product, as its already done so on the new server) and then point the ip to the new DB.

If anything, you might have errors as you sit, as the product/db is set for 3.1

remember, anyone hitting the old box is going to be adding to your old database. So, its best to either turn off the old box (vb admin feature - shut forums off) or point the ip with identical file versions
