    Disappointed, uninstalled.

Well I installed this product not once but twice in case I did it wrong the first time.

Each time I installed it my server loads started going through the roof.

My VBulletin forum usually has 60-90 users online. My dedicated server is a P4 2.8 with 1.5GB of RAM with my forum being the primary thing the server runs, I would say 75% of the CPU and memory is dedicated to the Vbulletin forum.

My server load is normally .5 to .9 sometimes going over 1, but not for long. Both times I installed VBSeo I had a "top" window open and observed the load after I activated VBSeo. Each time the load was around .5 and had been for 15 minutes.

Each time I activated SEO the load immediately started climbing higher and higher. When it got to over 10 I unstalled the product before it crashed the server.

Needless to say I am disappointed. I am sure the product works for some of you, but it just doesn't work for me. It won't be the first time I wasted $149 but I was really hoping for better.

If anyone had he same experience and there is a fix or something that I did wrong let me know and I will try it once more. I followed the instructions to the letter and it did rewrite the URL's. However I can't live with those loads.

I used the standard install, I did disable re-writing URL's in emails and member profile and the member list as I didn't see any point in that.

It has been 5 minutes since I uninstalled the product and my server is happily purring along again at .9. It was over 10 about 5 minutes ago.

That server spec, with that amount of users, shouldn't be anywhere NEAR that high. Open a support ticket and get the experts to troubleshoot.

Okay I will open one tomorrow.

However I can not have this product installed for any length of time as my server will surely crash. The loads just got higher and higher and once above 10 I got scared. As soon as I uninstalled the loads started coming down and within 5 minutes were below 1 again.

I guess I could reinstall it and disable it and not have the .htaccess in the /forums directory until someone is ready to look at it.

How many posts do you have? If more than 1M, request the pre-release of 2.4.5, it eliminates a very nasty query that was causing my 2.8M post board to jump from 1-2 to 50-60.

When serverload skyrockets like that, 100% of the times is an incompatibility issue with a) ionCube, b) Zend, c) currently installed php version or d) httpd.conf settings.

As Xoxide mentions, we recently corrected an issue (solved in 2.4.5) with boards with over 1 Million postings but I wouldn't think this is the case.
It won't be the first time I wasted $149 but I was really hoping for better.
We would NEVER keep your money if for X reason you are unable to run vBSEO. As I said above, I'm positive it is an incompatibility issue. Please submit a ticket to our tech support team so that we can get you running asap.

    Cheers

That is encouraging, maybe your experience can help me!

Can you tell me what the problem was that was causing your load?
Also can you tell me what your loads (on average) were before VBSeo was installed?
And what your loads were after installing when you had the prolems?
And what your loads were after the problems were corrected?
Are your server specs and forum size similiar to mine (listed in a prior post)

    Thanks!

Not sure what the problems were exactly.

A normal server load for me is .7 - 1.5

The server load jumped to 20 when I first installed. So I disabled it and it dropped immediately.

I installed the latest Zend optimizer on the server and installed the zend version of the vbseo.

Inititially the server load jumped again to around 5-6 but it dropped back down to normal after 2 days.

    Been running .7 - 1.5 ever since.

That's great, so your server loads now are no more than they were before?

I will open a ticket and let the guys see if they can help me as I would like to run this software.

Yes, they are back to normal now. Not sure why they spike for a couple of days but some friends of mine had the exact same thing happen to them and they are back to normal as well.

Any word on the outcome of this? I think I'm experiencing some weird load activity as well.

Yes the issue has been resolved. I can not tell you exactly what the problem was but can tell you everything I did, so I guess it had to be one of these things, or perhaps a combination.

I requested a "server optimization" from Vbulletin.com and they gave he some things to do, which were:

Upgraded PHP from 4.4.1 to 4.4.2
    Made changes to my.cnf
    Made changes to httpd.conf
    Disabled persistent connections

The entire thread, outlining specific changes is here:
Optimization Request - vBulletin Community Forum

I did all the recommendations except for uninstalling Zend, which is required by VBSeo

Now, it seems that the loads were still a little high for the first couple of days, but have settled down now. Loads are still higher than without VBSeo, but it is manageable.

    Hope this helps!
