    Question change of server

    Hi,

I know, we had a thread about it, but I just want to ask again. I'm going to change my server very soon, so I want to be sure that everything works.
When changing the server, there will of cource be a short delay of up to 48 hours, until the DNS change is updateted everywhere in the Internet. So some people are not routed to my Domain on the new location. For them I want to provide access via the new server IP. To allow this with the vbseo-vbulletin I simply need to turn of vbseo, until the procedure is finished. Right?

And another point, do you think, there will be a significant disadvantage for my search engine indexing and page rank?

    Regards,

    Sebastian

I just changed servers today. I left vbseo turned on but disabled the following option so everything worked from the IP:

    Include Domain Name in URLs?
Search engines are thought to be more likely to follow links with absolute URLs (www.yourdomain.com/this_page.html). Enable this option to include your domain name in your forum links, thus, making your URLs look absolute (vs. relative). Yes No

Also you can change the TTL of your domains DNS to something like 180 a good 24 hours before a server change so that the DNS updates quiker... Then set it back to the default afterwards. I did this and only had about 1 hour between changing the domains to the new server and them working.

    Hello Sebastian,

You won't have problems with the server migration as the license is associated to your domain name. If during the migration, the site is accessed from the IP address, you will see a "unregistered" notice besides the copyright. This will go away once the site is accessed through the domain name that matches your license key.
