    Calendar and Photos Sections

    I've been adding lots of content to my Calendar and Photos sections (photos section is driven by PhotoPlog).

    But it's not getting indexed in Google after several weeks, see:
    site:windychat.com inurl:calendar - Google Search
    and
    site:windychat.com inurlhotos - Google Search

    Should it be already or am I impatient?

    Any recommendations? Would some high PR links directly to those sections be what I need right now - or what do you think?

    Thanks,
    Eric

    Will installed the SiteMap Generator help with this?

    Thanks,

    The Calendar is not included in the Sitemap currently.

    I'm not sure if an Add-On for vBSEO Sitemap has been created to include PhotoPlog URLs, but you can check the forum here: vBSEO Google/Yahoo Sitemap - General Discussion at vBSEO.com And request one if one hasn't been created yet.

    Great, yes there is a sticky with lots of information and an alternate solution for PhotoPlog from Code Monkey.

    By the way - is there anything that will help with URL re-writes for the Calendar?

    Thanks,
    Eric

    Actually I think I found out my problem with the Calendar and Photos was this setting in vBSEO - I remember reading all the settings a couple times but obviously I didn't remember or understand all the implications

    "Add rel="nofollow" to ALL Dynamic Pages
    Enable this option to prevent search engines from following ALL dynamic links. Some examples are: 'Post Reply' links, 'Quote' links and 'Quick Reply' or 'Search' links. These pages have non-relevant (or "noise") content which should not be indexed by search engines , resulting in better SEO."

    The photos (photoplog) and calendar section url's were all dynamic. I understood it would take a little more time to get them indexed deeply but I thought it was weird they weren't getting indexed at all!

    So anyway, besides the photoplog plug-in that is a working in progress I mentioned above, I noticed on my relatively new install of vBSEO there were all the Custom Rewrites commented out for the Calendar section right in the vBSEO admin page! They were not in my older board's vBSEO admin page, probably because it's been upgraded a few times.

    Here are the custom rewrites for the calendar section that were commented out.

    Code:

    //==========================================================================
    // Sample Custom Rewrite Rules: calendar as static pages (Remove the '//' in front of the rules to enable).
    // Note: Enable the calendar dropdown redirect rule within the Custom 301 Redirects section below.
    //==========================================================================
    //'^calendar\.php$' => 'calendar/'
    //'^calendar\.php\?c=1$' => 'calendar/'
    //'^calendar\.php\?(c=1&)?do=(display.+?)(&year=)?$' => 'calendar/$2/[NF]'
    //'calendar\.php\?(c=1&)?nojs=1' => 'calendar/nojs/[NF]'
    //'calendar\.php\?(c=1&)?do=(display.+?)&nojs=1' => 'calendar/$2/nojs/[NF]'
    //'calendar\.php\?(c=1&)?week=(\d+)&nojs=1' => 'calendar/week-$2/nojs/[NF]'
    //'calendar\.php\?(c=1&)?month=(\d+)&year=(\d+)&nojs=1' => 'calendar/$3/$2/nojs/[NF]'
    //'^calendar\.php\?do=getinfo&(c=1&)?day=(\d+)-(\d+)-(\d+)(&c=1)?$' => 'calendar/$2/$3/$4/'
    //'^calendar\.php\?do=getinfo&e=(\d+)(&day=[0-9\-]+)?(&c=1)?$' => 'calendar/event-$1/'
    //'^calendar\.php\?(s=&)?(c=1&)?(week=&)?month=(\d+)&year=(\d+)(&c=1)?(&do=displaymonth)?$' => 'calendar/$5/$4/'
    //'^calendar\.php\?c=1&week=(\d+)(&do=displayweek&month=.+?)?$' => 'calendar/week-$1/'
    hope this helps someone.

    I noticed my calendars still weren't getting indexed and I realized by default vBulletin does not let "Guest" or unregistered - not logged in users to view other's events. So Google couldn't see any of the events I had posted!

    Hopefully that will be the final snafu :-)

    Calendars:
    MapPoint Forums - Calendar
    WindyChat.com - Calendar

    Please confirm you can see Events now :-)
