Hi Brian,
Would you please elaborate on this, "Avoid generic welcome headers"?
Thanks
Thank you, Brian.
This guide has helped me greatly.
If you are starting a new site, use Brian's guide/settings/advice - this guy knows what he is talking about
Thanks Brian
Thanks jaz. Have you used my file with success?
Brian , this is the biggest and the better tutorial with vBSEO
great work , Brian
Yes, I used your file and everything is up and running now. Of course I changed few minor things like analytics code, vBSEO affiliate id and I ordered linkbacks filter alphabetically - perfectionist that I am. I left all your settings unchanged and going with f[forum_id]/ and t[thread_id]/ is just brilliant. Not only can I order my forums structure around without having to worry about PR loss, but I can also block SE access to all files ending with html in my robots.txt. The links to forums and threads are simple, short, they don't change and are still a good SEO example - what else could I wish for.
I also installed your 404.php and it also has been a great deal of help already. I installed a vbSEO stye 1.0 and your script reported me that I have some images (rounded corners etc) missing from my style image folder.
I have a question though - is conditional sigantures mod still required if I have enambled "nofollow" for all the links in my vBSEO settings? (the default setting in your config). Also is there a way to rewrite some links and/or keywords from say: Party Poker to <a href="http://partypoker.com/my-aff-id">Party Poker</a> My guess is, vBSEO does most of the text parsing on the fly as it is being queried out from the DB and it shouln't be too hard to figure out how do something similar by myself or perhaps there is a mod for that too, that I haven't found yet? I know, I should't get too carried away with all kinds of 'cool' mods, but this is a functionality I can't do without.
PS. omg I just noticed my post is so long to your simple question "Have you used my file with success?"
Thanks again for your free support Brian, I apprechiate it.
great work Brian as always. This should be a sticky just encase any newcomer needs help and just happen to need a ultimate guide to vbseo![]()
I have used your guide for another my project Brian, in this new site i use vbseo & vbtube but i have some problems with the robots.txt file, because it block all .php extensions, thre is a way to have the re write settings with NO EXTENSIONS also for vbtube?

Thanks a lot marco1
I implemented this like 2 weeks ago I think. After changing my URL, I had like 260 links in google now I have something like 26000.
Very nice work indeed! Thank you!
