Boardtracker

What do you folks here know/think about this service? I have seen rumors that it incorporates some blackhat techniques and may be a detriment to good SEO.

Since it doesn't run on your forum, i don't see it being an issue. Boardtracker is a registered user on my site, and i am indexed there..... but other than the user profile, and the links in, there is no other link out to them.

If their tatics are black hat, it will effect them, not you, I would think, no?

hrm... i really don't like that noppid guy (from other threads) but he brings up a good point about the meta 0.

I still don't think its a big deal though. The rss feeds they grab are NOT the entire post, and their site is NOT seo'ed at all. I've NEVER even seen a board tracker result show up when my site did-- even for old posts - in the SE's.

so, even if they aren't giving you the real link-in from them because of the meta refresh, and thus, no PR points, i still don't see any negatives to it as far is it hurting your site.

noppid is wrong but keeps trying hard to pick holes in boardtracker.. I have replied to his post here..

I used to like noppid but since couple last weeks my opinion on him changed a lot and i find him really ignorant and don't give a damn what he says.

Boardtracker is also a registered member in my site and as Brian i never saw a boardtracker result came out.

That whole site has lost tremendous credibility to me.

Any update on this? Anyone actually have a good number of visitors coming in through boardtracker. I would think this would be good if they are linking to a lot of your pages.

I don't suggest useing board tracker.. as your url's are not re-written on their site..

I banned boardtracker and deleted the account. They seem to refuse to remove by urls from their site. They butcher your urls and refuse to change that. Not only do they remove the wre-write but they add referrer= to the url. How lame is that?

Oh, I never even noticed that.. maybe I should remove the account from my site also
