Better to disable archive with vbseo?

do you suggest to disable "archive" in vb once installed vbseo?

I think it's quite useless to have archive enabled if I've (and I've) vbseo - not?

I know vbseo does 301 redirects to avoid dup content, but I don't see any advantage on having archive

It gives spiders an additional path to deeper/older threads that do not have enough exposure in the front end due to pagination issues.

I'd suggest keeping it on along with the default vBSEO archive setting: Rewrite + 301 Redirect Archive Pages

If you will create a new forum, disable it.
But for already forums, as Juan said, you will have another chance for the threads to index and rank better.
Google recommend the html sitemap and vBSEO archive like it with rewrite+301 redirect.

I use the archive along with vbseo
and have with brand new sites as well.

I've never really fully understood or agree'd with those who say it's better to disable it.

As Juan said, it`s for deeper/older threads.
The new forums havn`t old threads so you don`t have to enable it, start a forum with vbseo will make the search engines follow the threads as well.

Disabling the archive make the importance for the categories only ... and that`s we want

It`s a strategies, some people like to have all archive pages links in the footer for the new forums, but disabling it in this case is better in my opinion.

Yes, but that makes no sense. In most cases older threads are on forumdisplay on page 11, 12 etc. Ideally, you want your visitors and the search engines to be able to reach any page within your site within a maximum of three clicks and preferably two clicks. The more clicks it takes to reach a page, the less chance there is that the search engines will index that page, but vbseo creates a Sitemap. Search engines are then able to get to virtually any page of your site within just a couple of clicks.
In my opinion it makd not sense to turn on the vbulletin archive. Therefore disable it. The Archive is nothing but low quality.

    Best regards,
    Majora

I am trying to decide what to do! I don't know if I should disable the archive, it just seems silly to have 2 ways of accessing the same data. I am afraid to turn it off though!
