Re: Best settings for SEO

The default settings should be fine for most users. Everything else is mostly personal preference.

Re: Best settings for SEO

I think the default - has been said to be the preferred separator.

Re: Best settings for SEO

Support for the "-" seperator to represent a blank space is widely supported within all search engines. However other seperators such as the "_" and "." character would produce wholly different results.

For example;
look at vbseo - Google Search
look-at-vbseo - Google Search
look_at_vbseo - Google Search

Whilst the results for "look at vbseo" and "look-at-vbseo" are different, Google results actually highlight text with "look at vbseo", whereas the third and final search result highlights Google inability to recognize certain seperator characters.

Therefore it is best off to use the "-" character as a seperator to maximize search engine indexation and relevancy.

Re: Best settings for SEO

Using "-" is a bajillion times better than _

Using underscore, the SE's think of all of those keywords in only that phrase, whereas the dash you get credit for each individual word when searching.. (if that made any sense).
