    Auto link on specific keywords?

    Is there a setting to automatically link to my main site when someone uses a specific keyword?

    In other words if someone says "blue widget" it will autmatically create a hyperlink to my blue widget page...

    yes, there is an option to do this. However, if said phrase is in the title of a thread, it will cause errors (as it will try to link within the link to the topic)

    Is there a way to do it that doesn't do anything to <title> tags?

    Unfortunately GAL doesn't work with vbulletin 4 (they don't seem too interested in getting a vb 4 compatible version out either). There's a much sleeker alternative at AutoLinker.com

    We use AutoLinker on our forum - consumeractiongroup.co.uk
    Haven't tried it with v.4 yet - we are still v.3.8 but I have to agree that it seems to work very well. We used to use the Geek linker but as we are preparing to convert to v.4 we decided to try out AutoLinker before we made the jump. The Consumer Action Group forum is very large - over 252,000 members and about 700,000 unique visitors per month. We are a free site just run by volunteers so we rely on the linking system very heavily

    AutoLinker is the direct replacement for GALS which it seems is no longer being developed and which is not compatible with version 4vBulletin anyway.
    You can see it here AutoLinker Lite, keyword linker for vBulletin 3.7 and 4.x, and vbcms - vBulletin.org Forum or at the AutoLinker site

    Both these plugins seem to have rather slow support forums. I wish VBSEO would add a feature like this or come out with a product for us that did this.

    Hello James,

    You can sort this out with our 'Acronym Expansion' feature. You can find it through:

    vBSEO CP -> SEO Functions -> Acronym Expansion

    Please try to define the following settings:

    Acronym Expansion
    : REPLACE acronyms as expanded text
    Define Acronyms
    : 'vbseo' => 'http://www.vbseo.com' (for example)
    Apply Acronym Expansion to "Content Areas" only?
    : Yes
    Apply Acronym Expansion to URLs?
    : No

    With that settings, you can replace keywords with hyperlinks. You can customize the hyperlink format by editing the following option:

    vBSEO CP -> General Settings -> vBSEO Options -> Advanced Tab -> Acronym Autolink Format NEW!

    Best regards.

    This is really cool but I am having trouble making this work correctly. I would love to show you but I dont want to leave a bunch of messed up keywords over 1000s of posts.
    Anyways if i have
    <a href="%1">%2</a> as my Acronym Autolink Format and as my Acronyms i can not how to format this correctly
    'dirt bike' => '<http://www.mototips.com> dirt bike' is not correct turns out looking like dirt bike">dirt bike">dirt bike please help me out with this.

    my only other concern is having so many links on one page i know this wont be a issue with tighter keywords but targeting my home page i would love to have that broad keyword do you think that may end up being a problem?

    Hello,

    Please try to follow this example:

    'vbseo' => 'http://www.vbseo.com'

    Regarding the last one thing, if I understand what you mean, you may add rel="nofollow" attribute to your 'Acronym Autolink Format'.

    Please make sure you defined "REPLACE acronyms as expanded text" on the first setting.
