    Archived Links Still Down

Hello, I posted a while ago about how my archived links have gone down in Google search results. I am wondering why this is. Currently I submit through the www version of my URL. The non www is set to redirect to www and everything is set up correctly with a 301. I am also submitting site maps through the Google Webmaster for the www version. When I look up my archived links using site:name.com and site:www etc I see almost the same number of results. Should I change to the non www version since Google seems to prefer this one? I am not sure what is going on? Sould I change vbseo software to submit to non www version? If so do I need to change the primary domain to non www?

Changing will start the process all over again.

Leave it as is and it will eventually pick up the correct urls.

Also make sure you set your webmaster tools 'preferred' domain setting.

Just a quick update on this. I am still getting same archived results on non www and www version although everything is set up correctly in webmasters and on the sitemap. Should I continue to wait? My results are still going down. They have dropped about 2K and I do have a site with unique content. Thanks

Yes I have done all this. Perhaps you should take a look. Should I submit a ticket? I'm thinking of giving up on the www now and just changing everything.

Also it seems that the meta description of my site on the Google archived links has disappeared. Now the link just shows the name of my site with nothing below for the forum. Where is this meta description held with vbseo. I checked the meta description through my regular vbulletin options and it is there so I believe this may be a setting issue or I don't have the meta tags were they need to be within the vbseo panel.

I still believe that you should do nothing at this time. Google is 'in motion' on your site and any changes can restart it all over again.

Thanks then I will wait on changing the www. However can you tell me why no meta description is showing up for my forums? all Google has archived is the meta tag. I am not referring the the word press portion of my site only the forum portion. /forums

meta tags are barely even used any more. Google is NOT a meta crawler.... it's smart enough to read content.

I was hoping for a meta description to show mostly for people. I read the meta descriptions on archived results before clicking. I do think Google takes meta description into account and meta title based on my own experience. On my vbsek site map change frequency is often noted as monthly or yearly. Is this correct? My archived links have dropped another 1k today. The site doesnt have duplicate content so I'm just making sure things are set up as they should be. Should change frequency be noted this way?

Pretty much the ONLY time a meta description is used is when showing the core domain only, ie site.com. 99% of your search results will be to threads, of which will highlight the search terms the user entered vs the on page content.

Archived links don't really matter for anything.... Anything dropping could be old duplicate stuff.

yes, those pages do not change often, and hence those settings are used by default.

Sorry I am back. I would really like to add a meta description to my forums main page. How do I do this since it's not using the default description anymore. I know you said it's not important but I think it helps people browsing know what the site is about. Also this forum has one. Where did you put the meta description for this forum? Right now all my forums has methinks title and under says powered by vBulletin. Thanks
