Any reason to allow profile crawl?

Most of my members (for now anyways) do not have anything substantial in their profiles. I am trying to think of a reason that I would want bots to look at this. Is there an SEO advantage to this?
Doesn't it just water down my relevant content?

If I want to get rid of this, what do I put in robots.txt? Or is there another way to handle it?

    Thanks!

Have you guys done any testing have any feedback?

Thanks for the reply Juan. Following through to the other thread and the link their, I see Joe Ward then mentions that getting rid of extra "fluff" pages may be a good idea.

Has vBSEO done anything as far as testing or experiments? Any body else? Big Board Admins?

Right now, I only have pretty simple sig blocks...I see their being very little content or keywords there. If I understand, each profile will be a "page" that is crawled. So, I have something like 500 members and sitemap says google is being sent 2500+ URLs...isn't that like 20% of my content being shot on names and pictures of Borat? Or is it not a big deal?

I can't find a reason to believe having more content will "water down" your on-topic threads. After all, relevancy is a page-per-page thing.

My stance is this: As long as your site is trusted (and all what this implies) and your on-page SEO is in place, profiles are valid content that search engines will be happy to see.

One thing I can tell ya' - vBSEO.com does get a reasonable number of search engine referrals from member profiles alone.

You didnt found out juan than disabling the archive printable version also makes some of your thread being not listed at all, personnaly I prefer having duplicate than pages not listed at all, this is for what stand the archive printable version..

site:vbseo.com - Google Search you do not have lots of listed pages.

vBSEO rewrites the print-type URLs for consistency really. It's one of those (very few) "OCD" features you'll find in it that do not have a real SEO benefit but are still done for the sake of.... perfection?

Note: vBSEO adds rel=nofollow to all print-type URLs by default.
site:vbseo.com - Google Search you do not have lots of listed pages.
The "site:" query is not accurate anymore, and changes constantly, plus vBSEO.com is a relatively small site.

Needless to say, I'd spend little time looking at this type query when analyzing an SEO campaign.
