Any Benefit to Make my Forum "nofollow" ?

    Hi,

I assume I can turn on this feature in vbSEO, will it help me in Google?

I don't have high activities and no issue with spam.

    Thank you
    Fahad

Nofollow links simply ignored and not calculated for seo value. It's impotant to whom you are linking. For example if you link a adult site, bad scam sites or bad neighbours. Your site can be labelled as spammer and may lose reputation. Adding "nofollow" in these links make sure you are not affiliated with those links. Also you do not pass Google PR to these links.

More technically i can tell you when a spider collects urls on a page if he see "nofollow" tag the spider will not follow this link. He is blind for that link.

It's highly important to use nofollow signature links and profile links because they can be harmful for your forum.

There is also whitelist function there which you may consider to use. Making dofollow links to high pagerank sites (dmoz.org google.com, etc.) or your other websites is a good thing. When you add a domain in that box it'll not be nofollowed.

No. You should follow all GOOD links.

I personally run nonfollow on all external links as many users have sigs with links to random stuff like gamer tags/etc that aren't remotely a part of my niche (cars). But all internal links, except for sorting links, should be left as follow.

Okay, I have fixed this, thank you Brian!

I have made external links nofollow but...

How about autolinks that point to good companies we discuss on the forums?

Right, you should do-follow all quality links. Just moderate heavily for spam to elimate that from your forum.
