For a already highly traffic forum, is this upgrade a risk?

I already have between 350 000 and 450 000 unique visitors per month and been online since year 2000 (big-board.com rank around 1000-1100) and that is mainly through SO to direct links to my forum.

    Question is:

    • is this program a risk to use? Could I potentially loose traffic on it?
    • is the best time to upgrade in the summer (when traffic is low)
    • at what point can I count on getting back to the old Google PR
    • Is 3,2.0 the ones to use for vbulletin 3,7 forums? SHould I wait for Gold version?
Thanks in advance for the help

    I highly recommend it.

I rank by posts in the 1600 range.
but i'm #92 if you change that option to traffic

you CAN and WILL lose a little traffic the first month. This is normal, as everything is getting swapped around.

    it's best to upgrade yesterday

PR is useless. ignore it. i've been a PR4, a PR6, and currently, I've been a PR0 for the past 18 months. my traffic is up up up up up every month.

3.2 is the 3.7 release. however, 3.1 works fine on 3.7, it just doesn't include re-writes for the new features like the groups/albums/etc. it is currently in rc7 (and rc8 is just around the corner). i run rc7 on my site with no issues. There's a couple bugs, but nothing mission critical where i'd tell you to NOT run 3.2 rc7.

this is what happened to me back in 2006.

can you tell when i installed? june 15th 2006.

i noticed the amount of visitors and traffic lowered (included bots) but i'm making more money (go figure?)

So you say the first month of upgrade is normal that things lower down?

i wondered if it was because i was using Zoint Tag and changed and had problems with only having a space instead of - or +?

Mj, there's a beta option in RC7 to fix the dashes and pluses.

towards the bottom of config_vbseo.php, find

    define('VBSEO_URL_TAGS_FILTER', 0);

    change to a 1.

this will auto- rewrite /tags/some+tag/ to /tags/some-tag/

Why does your traffic drop off at the end of the year?

Also, has there been any examples off lowered traffic? Misskulni, did you have a high trafficked forum before ypu implmented thid as well?

Also, are there any independent not vbseo affiliated / employed posters that could reply?

    Thanks in advance.

that screen shot was taken on the first or 2nd of march 2007. there was only a day or two of recorded traffic at that point.

I'm sure there's a ton. Most of whom give up too early. You need to EXPECT a slight hit in traffic for a short period of time while the SE's are doing their magic. it's well worth the wait.

I am NOT affiliated with vbseo in any way shape or form. I am not employed, nor compensated by vbseo, nor do any of my comments reflect the vbseo team.

I am on the pre-release team, which means i help test new releases before going public with the package. That's about it.

OK, I think I recollected that you where the guy who bought a BMW M3 after the VBSE0 experince, right?

In anycase, a month I can stand in traffic loss and since its sumemr its good time to upgrade.

So if I have a vbulletin server load above 1, you suggest server upgrades, and then what specifically?

Any examples of clients that have VBseo installed that have around 300-400 000 unique visotrs per month and maybe 1-5 million pageviews / month.

    yup, that's me.

I personally see about .2 in load increase from vbseo. You can probably counter-act that load increase by using something like xcache or eaccelerator (an op-code cache) on the server.

As for clients, the largest vbulletin forum in the world runs vbseo. check the home page for the write up.

Yeah i know but when i FIRST started there was no options that's what i meant....so i lost a lot of traffic because of that. It's not vbseo's fault tho i was just wondering if zoint could have been the main problem
