I'm a complete noob when it comes to online advertising and I have a few questions regarding this topic.

In practice what does a banner advertising campain work like? I mean, will I have to charge companies for placing their banners on my site or is the placement generally free, so that I will get payments only for viewed/clicked ads?

What means of pulling revenue off your site do YOU use?

I've just started my site, so it's not that attractive to advertising clients yet. Where can I get more information about this?
